Resolutions

Resolution #1 – Eparchy of Edmonton

WHEREAS the family is the foundation of society and the primary teacher of right and wrong, Christian values, Christian morals, and the place where we learn to pray, love, compromise, and forgive and where we learn to be productive members of society;  and

WHEREAS the UCWLC is the official association of women laity of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada whose social development aims are:

“(a) to broaden the understanding of Christian moral standards and values in everyday life, and     to deepen the sense of civic responsibility among the members;” and

“(b) to initiate and support social action programs, which exemplify Christian ideals and values of justice and love particularly those related to the sanctity of human life and the sacredness of the family”:

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the National UCWLC, through the Eparchial Executives and the individual branches, initiate programs and provide guidance, help, resources, suggestions, and examples to support Faith Development within families.

Addendum to the Resolution:

Action plan examples

  • Organize parish Rosary Prayer on an on-going monthly basis
  • Re-establish the Prayer Corner
  • Organize learning classes of the different liturgical services in the Eastern Catholic tradition
  • Scripture study; all parishioners included
  • Social justice: clothing collection for the poor
  • Food bank drives; family members could share the cost of the food purchased
  • Parish/ Eparchial Retreats on Family issues
  • Locate a site online for a monthly craft idea to help children grow in faith
  • Have family members take turns saying mealtime prayers
  • At mealtime, say a prayer chain; each person around the table says what he/she is thankful for that day
  • Prayer jar – each day, each family member writes an intention, that other family members could pray for, on a note and places it in the jar. At bedtime, each member pulls a note and prays for that need.
  • Celebrate a person’s name day instead of birthday and learn about the saint-of-the day
  • Use scripture readings as morning, mealtime or bedtime prayers
  • Parents share with their children, how their faith has helped them in difficult situations or helps them on a daily basis.

Resolution #2 – Eparchy of Winnipeg

WHEREAS the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC) is a charitable organization and strives to address the needs of many in our community, and

WHEREAS many Canadians may be educationally, economically and socially disadvantaged, and

WHEREAS many refugees require various humanitarian support, and

WHEREAS many impoverished and disadvantaged families and individuals are vulnerable to human trafficking, poor health, low education levels, homelessness and unfortunate situations in our community,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC), at the 25th National Congress on the 2nd day of July, 2016, urge all members of the UCWLC to offer their prayers, extend their efforts, continue to be charitable, and show compassion and love in becoming a more welcoming church for the well-being of the vulnerable and less fortunate members of our community.

Resolution #3 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

WHEREAS:

  1. The UCWLC was organized nationally in 1944;
  2. The UCWLC was incorporated under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act on June 25, 1980;
  3. An English-language version of the UCWLC Constitution and Bylaws was printed in 2003, followed by a printed version in both English and Ukrainian in 2007;
  4. The Constitution and Bylaws were amended at the Congress in July, 2013 to ensure compliance with the new Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act;
  5. Certain provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws are outdated and no longer applicable;
  6. A review of the Constitution and Bylaws is advisable to ensure consistency of language and relevance to current organizational, spiritual, cultural, and social circumstances;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the National Constitution Chair, together with the Eparchial Constitution Chairs, review the UCWLC Constitution and Bylaws, engaging the services of such advisers as may seem prudent and ensuring full participation of and consultation with members of the UCWLC, the clergy, and the hierarchy, and that they present their findings to the National Executive before the next Congress.

Resolution #4 – Eparchy of Winnipeg

WHEREAS the life and work in Ukraine of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska should be known to Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada(UCWLC) members, and

WHEREAS the members of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada strive to educate themselves about faith and culture, and

WHEREAS Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska is the co-foundress of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate who have gone beyond the borders of Ukraine and have contributed to the evangelization, education, and care of those in need in Canada and abroad,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada, at the 25th National Congress on the 2nd day of July, 2016, encourage their members to study the life and work of Blessed Josaphata and the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate,  and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the UCWLC pray for the canonization of Blessed Josaphata Hordashevska, and

ALSO BE IT RESOLVED that UCWLC members whose prayers to Blessed Josaphata have been answered, be encouraged to acknowledge and bear witness to these graces received in order to accelerate her proposed canonization.

ALSO BE IT RESOLVED that the National Executive of the UCWLC nominate the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate for the Order of Canada on the 125th Anniversary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada.

Resolution #5 – Eparchy of Toronto

WHEREAS the UCWLC is an affiliate member of the World Union of Catholic Women’s Organizations (WUCWO),

BE IT RESOLVED THAT WUCWO ensures that there is worldwide recognition by its members of the threat by Russia to global peace and security and to Ukraine’s role in stemming aggression towards the rest of Europe and elsewhere by proposing a global action plan to WUCWO’s membership to include prayers, policies and charitable aid for the killed soldiers’ families (over 10,000), those wounded by the war (some 10,000) and those displaced (over 1.3 million).

Resolution #6 – Eparchy of Toronto

WHEREAS the people of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Catholic Church are struggling to defend their independence and freedom from outside aggression,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT UCWLC members spiritually unite in prayer with the people in Ukraine and provide assistance to those in need, especially and including the wounded, maimed, disabled, displaced, orphaned and those enslaved in human trafficking.

Resolution #7 – Eparchy of Toronto

WHEREAS Canadians of Ukrainian descent are celebrating 125 years of settlement in Canada,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the UCWLC National Executive establish a working group to formulate several MOVING- FORWARD- IN- CANADA PROJECTS for implementation.

Resolution #8 – Eparchy of Toronto

WHEREAS His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk has given his blessing to the creation of an organization of Ukrainian Greek Catholic women within the Archeparchy of Kyiv; and

WHEREAS His Beatitude has invited the UCWLC to assist and support the new organization,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the National Executive support the work of the Outreach Ukraine committee established within the Eparchy of Saskatoon in order to exchange ideas, share best practices from our UCWLC experience with our sisters and expand the good work already undertaken by the Eparchy of Saskatoon.

Resolution #9 – Eparchy of Toronto

WHEREAS our future lies in our young adults,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT to assure a bright future for Ukrainians in Canada, the UCWLC National Executive, together with Eparchial Executives, work with the youth through Eparchial Youth Coordinators, Knights of Columbus, UCBC and other Catholic and Ukrainian Canadian entities to undertake approaches that will stimulate greater involvement of young adults in the Ukrainian Catholic Church and wider Ukrainian community in Canada.

 

RESOLUTIONS PRESENTED FROM THE FLOOR:

Resolution #10 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

(Supported by Eparchy of New Westminster and Eparchy of Edmonton)

WHEREAS the Greek Catholic Women’s League of Ukraine does not have the financial resources necessary to establish a viable women’s organization in Ukraine,

BE IT RESOLVED THAT, from the general funds of the National UCWLC, the sum of $5,000 be designated for the purposes of the Greek Catholic Women’s League in Ukraine, such sum to be forwarded to the Outreach Ukraine committee of the UCWLC, Eparchy of Saskatoon, for handling on behalf of the organization in Ukraine.

Resolution #11 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

(Supported by Eparchy of New Westminster and Eparchy of Edmonton)

WHEREAS one of the aims of the UCWLC is “to participate in service to persons and society, in works of mercy for the poor and the sick, in the works of charity and mutual aid intended to address human needs of every kind”;

AND WHEREAS thousands of young people, including young people from Ukraine, are enslaved in human trafficking;

AND WHEREAS millions of people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water and sanitation;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, from the general funds of the National UCWLC, the sum of $20,000 be sent to WUCWO with $10,000 to be applied to the development of sustainable water systems and $10,000 to be targeted towards ending the tragedy of human trafficking.

Resolution #12 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

(Supported by Eparchy of New Westminster and Eparchy of Edmonton)

WHEREAS one of the aims of the UCWLC is “to participate in service to persons and society, in works of mercy for the poor and the sick, in the works of charity and mutual aid intended to address human needs of every kind”;

AND WHEREAS the Redemptorists has established the Welcome Home in Winnipeg, Manitoba to extend the hands of mercy to the poor and vulnerable;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, from the general funds of the National UCWLC, the sum of $10,000 be allocated to the purpose of the Welcome Home.

Resolution #13 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

(Supported by Eparchy of New Westminster and Eparchy of Edmonton)

WHEREAS CNEWA provides relief to refugees and persons displaced by war in Ukraine and the Middle East;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, from the general funds of the National UCWLC, the sum of $10,000 be sent to CNEWA with a direction that funds be used to relieve the suffering of refugees and displaced persons, particularly those afflicted by war in Ukraine.

Resolution #14 – Eparchy of Saskatoon

(Supported by Eparchy of New Westminster and Eparchy of Edmonton)

WHEREAS the Edmonton Eparchy is a partner in the Home of Hope project in Lviv, Ukraine, which provides a safe haven for teenage girls who no longer qualify for residence in orphanages;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT, from the general funds of the National UCWLC, the sum of $10,000 be sent to the Eparchy of Edmonton to be applied to the loan incurred for the capital cost of acquiring Home of Hope.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ №1 – Епархія Едмонтон

ОСКІЛЬКИ родина є фундаментом суспільства, першим учителем різниці між добром й злом, християнських вартостей та моралі, місцем, де ми вчимося молитися, любити, іти на уступки та прощати, місце, де ми вчимося бути продуктивними членами суспільства; та

ОСКІЛЬКИ ЛУКЖК є офіційною асоціацією мирянок при Українській Католицькій Церкві в Канаді, котра має на меті:

а)  поширювати знання християнської моралі та засад у щоденному житті та поглиблювати відчуття громадської відповідальності між членами; та

б) започатковувати та підтримувати програми суспільних акцій, які представляють християнські ідеали та вартості, особливо ті, які відносяться до недоторканості життя людини та святості родини;

ВИРІШЕНО: Крайова Управа ЛУКЖК при допомозі парафіяльних управ та відділів започаткує програми та надасть допомогу керівництву – пропозиції та взірці, щоб підтримати розвиток християнської віри в родинах.

Додаток до резолюції

Взірці таких програм:

  • організувати парафіяльну місячну молитву на вервиці
  • організувати куток молитви
  • класи навчання різних літургічних відправ Східної Церкви
  • наука Святого Письма для всіх
  • збірка одягу для потребуючих
  • збірка харчів для бідних
  • парафіяльні реколекції на родинні теми
  • програми з інтернету, які допоможуть дітям зростати у вірі
  • молитва перед їдою, а після – кожний член родини скаже, за що є вдячний цьому дню
  • збірник молитов: кожний член родини витягає карточку, про що має молитися цього дня
  • відзначувати іменини замість дня народження
  • читати Святе Письмо замість ранішніх та вечірніх молитов
  • батьки діляться зі своїми дітьми, як віра допомогла їм в тяжкій ситуації та в щоденному житті.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ №2 – Епархія Вінніпеґ

ОСКІЛЬКИ ЛУКЖК є харитативною організацією, яка намагається звертати увагу на потреби в нашій громаді, і

ТОМУ, ЩО багато канадців не мають відповідної освіти та економічного і соціального рівня, а

ТАКОЖ багато бідних, нещасних родин і осіб є у небезпеці торгівлі людьми, мають погане здоров’я, відсутність життєвої науки та безпритульні,

ВИРІШЕНО: ЛУКЖК на 25-му Конґресі (2 липня, 2016) запропонує своєму членству молитися та висловлювати своє співчуття потребуючим, щоб наша церква стала більш привітною для нещасного членства нашої спільноти.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 3 – Епархія Саскатун

  1. ЛУКЖК була організована на крайовому рівні в 1944 р.;

Б.   Інкорпорована згідно  частиною ІІ Canada Corporations Act, 25 червня 1985 р.;

В.  У 2003 р. видрукована англійська версія Статуту, а в 2007 р. в англійській та українській мовах;

Г.   На Конґресі у липні 2013 р. Статут був виправлений згідно з вимогами Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act;

Ґ.   Деякі пункти Статуту на сьогодні є застарілі і більше не придатні;

Д.  Необхідно переглянути Статут ЛУКЖК, щоб запевнити послідовність із сучасними організаційними, духовними, культурними і суспільними обставинами;

ВИРІШЕНО: Голова Крайового Статутового Комітету разом із головами Епархіальних Статутових Комітетів, при допомозі дорадників з членства ЛУКЖК та ієрархів, повинні опрацювати Статут ЛУКЖК і представити свої пропозиції та зауваження до зміни Статуту Крайовій Управі ЛУКЖК перед наступним Конґресом у 2019 році.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 4 – Епархія Вінніпеґ

ОСКІЛЬКИ членство ЛУКЖК повинні знати про життя і працю Блаженної Йосафати Гордашевської в Україні,

ОСКІЛЬКИ членство ЛУКЖК стараються вивчити віру і культуру, і

ОСКІЛЬКИ Блаженна Йосафата Гордашевська є співзасновницею чину Сестер Служебниць Непорочної Діви Марії, які вложили багато праці у розвиток віри, навчання та опіки для потребуючих у Канаді й поза Канадою,

ВИРІШЕНО: ЛУКЖК на своєму 25 Конґресі, 2 липня 2016 р., буде заохочувати своє членство вивчати історію життя та працю Сестер Служебниць, та молитися за канонізацію Блаженної Йосафати, та

ВИРІШЕНО: членкині, чиї молитви були вислухані, повідомлять про це іншим, щоб прискорити процес канонізації, та

ВИРІШЕНО: щоб з нагоди 125-ліття поселення українців в Канаді, Крайова Управа ЛУКЖК повинна подати чин Сестер Служебниць на отримання нагороди “Орден Канади”.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 5 – Епархія Торонто

ОСКІЛЬКИ ЛУКЖК є членом Світового Союзу Католицьких Жіночих Організацій (ССКЖО),

ВИРІШЕНО: звернутися до ССКЖО, щоб вони довели до відома своєму членству про дистабілізацію Росією миру в Україні та й у світі в цілому, пропонувати світовий план, який включатиме молитви та харитативну поміч для родин воїнів убитих (понад 10,000), поранених (коло 10,000) та переселених війною в Україні (понад 1.3 мільйони).

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 6 – Епархія Торонто

ОСКІЛЬКИ народ в Україні та Українська Греко-Католицька Церква борються за свою незалежність та свободу від зовнішньої аґресії,

ВИРІШЕНО: членство ЛУКЖК духовно з’єднаються з народом України та нададуть допомогу потребуючим, особливо пораненим, осиротілим, переселеним та тим, що поневолені торгівлею людьми.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 7 – Епархія Торонто

ОСКІЛЬКИ канадці українського походження відзначають 125-ліття поселення перших українців в Канаді,

ВИРІШЕНО: Крайова Управа ЛУКЖК створить групу для оформлення різних проєктів, як наприклад:

  • Подати імена щодо назначення судей до найвищого суду Канади, та нагородження “Орденом Канади”
  • Назвати чи переіменувати різні місця в Канаді іменами визначних осіб української спільноти

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 8 – Епархія Торонто

ОСКІЛЬКИ Блаженніший Святослав Шевчук дав своє благословення на створення організації Українських Греко-Католицьких жінок в Київській Архиепархії, та

ОСКІЛЬКИ Блаженніший просив ЛУКЖК підтримувати і допомагати цій організації,

ВИРІШЕНО: Крайова Управа підтримає працю комітету “Outreach Ukraine” у Саскатунській Епархії з метою обміну ідей, та досвіду нашої організації і поширення доброго діла, яке вже почала Епархія Саскатуну.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 9 – Епархія Торонто

ОСКІЛЬКИ наше майбутнє покладається на молодших,

ВИРІШЕНО: Забезпечити світле майбутнє для українців в Канаді. Крайова Управа ЛУКЖК разом із Епархіальними Управами буде працювати з молоддю у співпраці Епархіальних Координаторів Молоді, Лицарів Колюмба, БУКК та інших католицьких та українських організацій, щоб зацікавити молодь брати більше участі в Українській Греко-Католицькій Церкві та в українській спільноті Канади.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЇ ПОДАНІ З ЗАЛУ:

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 10 – Епархія Саскатун

(Підтримана Епархіами Ню Вестмінстер і Едмонтон)

ОСКІЛЬКИ Ліґа Українських Греко-Католицьких Жінок в Україні не має відповідних фінансових ресурсів, щоб створити життєздатну організацію жінок в Україні,

ВИРІШЕНО: Виділити $5,000 із загального рахунку Крайової Управи ЛУКЖК та переслати до комітету “Outreach Ukraine” в Саскатунській Епархії для організування Ліґи Українських Греко-Католицьких Жінок в Україні.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 11 – Епархія Саскатун

(Підтримана Епархіами Ню Вестмінстер і Едмонтон)

ОСКІЛЬКИ однією з цілей ЛУКЖК є брати участь у служінню особам і суспільству у ділах милосердя до бідних і хворих, у ділах добродійства та взаємної помочі для облегшення різних людських потреб; та

ОСКІЛЬКИ тисячі молодих людей в Україні є понівечені торгівлею людей; та

ОСКІЛЬКИ мільйони людей на світі не мають доступу до чистої питної води та санітарних умов;

ВИРІШЕНО: Виділити $20,000 із рахунку Крайової Управи ЛУКЖК та переслати до ССКЖО, із них $10,000 для розвитку систем доступу до чистої води, а $10,000 на боротьбу проти торгівлі людьми.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 12 – Епархія Саскатун

(Підтримана Епархіами Ню Вестмінстер і Едмонтон)

ОСКІЛЬКИ однією із цілей ЛУКЖК є брати участь у служінні суспільству і особам у ділах милосердя до бідних і хворих, у ділах добродійства та взаємної помочі для облегшення різних людських потреб; та

ОСКІЛЬКИ отці Редемптористи заснували “Welcome Home” у Вінніпезі, щоб подати руку милосердя бідним та пригніченим;

ВИРІШЕНО: Виділити $10,000 із рахунку Крайової Управи ЛУКЖК на потреби “Welcome Home”.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 13 – Епархія Саскатун

(Підтримана Епархіами Ню Вестмінстер і Едмонтон)

ОСКІЛЬКИ CNEWA (Catholic Near East Welfare Association) надає допомогу біженцям та особам, які переселені через війну в Україні та у Середньому Сході;

ВИРІШЕНО: Переслати $10,000 із рахунку Крайової Управи ЛУКЖК до CNEWA для полегшення терпінь біженців та переселених осіб, а особливо для потерпілих від війни в Україні.

 

РЕЗОЛЮЦІЯ № 14 – Епархія Саскатун

(Підтримана Епархіами Ню Вестмінстер і Едмонтон)

ОСКІЛЬКИ Едмонтонська Епархія є співучасником проєкту “Дім Надія” у Львові, який є безпечним місцем для молодих дівчат, які вже не можуть жити у сиротинцях;

ВИРІШЕНО: Виділити $10,000 із рахунку Крайової Управи ЛУКЖК та переслати до Едмонтонської Епархії для сплачення позички на купівлі цього дому.
