Scholarships

The UCWLC offers two scholarships in the support of the pursuit of academic excellence and the furthering of Ukrainian culture, language, and community and the Ukrainian Catholic faith. These are:

  1. Mary Dyma Scholarship for Religious Studies in honour of the founder and first president of the UCWLC.
  2. Vera Buczynsky Scholarship for Ukrainian Language Studies in honour of the long time editor of Nasha Doroha magazine.

MARY DYMA SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

The National Executive of the UCWLC announces the sponsorship of scholarships available through the Mary Dyma Scholarship Fund.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY:

  1. Any lay woman who is a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canada may apply.
  2. The applicant must be enrolled in graduate level courses of religious studies in an accredited program.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. The applicant must provide the most recent transcript of marks.
  2. The applicant must provide proof of enrolment.
  3. Applicant must provide two letters of reference – one from an educator and one from an official representative of a church or community organization familiar with the applicant.
  4. Applicant must complete an application form available on this website.

AWARDS:

  1. The value of the Mary Dyma Scholarship shall be $1000 per annum.
  2. The scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the National UCWLC Scholarship Committee comprised of five members, one from each eparchy.
  3. The Awards Committee reserves the right to allow an equitable disbursement should two candidates of equal qualifications apply.
  4. The Awards Committee reserves the right to withhold or reject an application as need/ situation arises.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

  1. An applicant may receive the scholarship more than once to a maximum of three times.
  2. Unsuccessful applicants may reapply at a later date.
  3. Deadline for application is October 1.

    THE VERA BUCZYNSKY UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE STUDIES SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

    The National Executive of the Ukrainian Catholic Women’s League of Canada (UCWLC) offers a scholarship for the study of the Ukrainian Language at a post secondary level through the Vera Buczynsky Scholarship fund.

    WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY:

    1. A person from the Ukrainian Catholic community who is enrolled in Ukrainian Language studies at a post secondary level.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. The applicant must provide the most recent transcript of marks.
    2. The applicant must provide proof of enrollment.
    3. Applicant must provide two letters of reference – one from an educator and one from an official representative of a church or community organization familiar with the applicant. Include names, addresses and phone numbers.
    4. Applicant must complete an application form available on this website.

    AWARDS:

    1. The value of the Vera Buczynsky Scholarship shall be $1000.00.
    2. The scholarship will be awarded at the discretion of the National UCWLC Scholarship Committee comprised of five members, one from each eparchy.
    3. The Awards Committee reserves the right to allow an equitable disbursement should two candidates of equal qualifications apply.
